Mobile data

Imhotek staff have worked in the mobile data markets for ten years. Our experience includes satellite networks, wireless packet data (radio) systems, GSM data and GPRS. Within this realm, we have developed bespoke customer applications, set-up mobile workforces, carried out benchmark testing on new networks, and extensively tested different products over many networks. As a result, we offer a number of products in this area for network testing and mobile messaging.

Network testing

Imhotek are the primary tester of the Inmarsat packet data network: MPDS (Mobile Packet Data System). This satellite based network provides global coverage, giving a service comparable to the GPRS service offered by some Mobile Phone networks. This testing involves evaluating a number of (IP based) applications over a number of networks, including satellite, cellular and terrestrial to determine network reliability and performance characteristics. Imhotek is about to start a large project carrying out similar testing on new 3G network technologies.

Security

Maintaining the security of corporate data and systems cannot be underestimated. Imhotek can assist in reviewing your companies security procedures, and advising on all aspects of security to safeguard the loss of key information and systems. Imhotek have experience of many leading firewall, virus protection and intrusion detection systems, as well as dealing with other aspects of security including physical security, system usage policies and data storage.

Disaster Recovery

Most organisations have a backup strategy, remarkably few however have a disaster recovery plan. Proper implementation and regular testing of a Disaster Recovery plan is essential to the well being of an organisation. Imhotek in conjunction with your in-house technical teams can help create a workable disaster recovery plan that assesses the potential impacts of disaster and takes into account the underlying risks that may lead to a disaster occurring. The plan must then be maintained, tested and audited to ensure that it remains appropriate to the needs of the organisation, taking into account the support infrastructure and services available.

Troubleshooting

When resolving complex technical problems, the ability to troubleshoot the issues in a controlled and structured manner is essential to ensuring that not only is the issue resolved as quickly as possible, but that the circumstances that caused the issue in the first place are fully understood. Once the problem is resolved, the final stage is to make any changes necessary to ensure that it cannot happen again. The Imhotek consultancy team are regularly called in to resolve such issues and help in-house teams deal with complex technical issues.
